Q: What differences did you see in your skin after using Formula 15?

The 3 Finger Rule

When deciding your next meal, hold up 3 fingers and say to yourself: “I need a protein, a good source of carbohydrates, and a small amount of unsaturated fat.”

The 3 finger formula: A typical meal should consist of a piece of chicken, fish, grass-fed beef, fresh vegetables and fruits and a small source of monounsaturated fats, such as extra-virgin olive oil or a few nuts such as raw, unsalted almonds, walnuts or macadamia nuts.

The art of grazing: Eat 4 to 5 small, well-balanced meals a day to keep insulin levels stable and the value of eating small meals is that the body is never overloaded with sugars or other nutrients. Even if you’re eating healthy foods, you can have too much of a good thing at one time.

A Filler on the Go

I consider Deep Wrinkle Serum to be a kind of a skincare swiss army knife. It hydrates, “fills”, plumps and calms almost any skin type instantly. I tend to be on the normal/oily side, with some dryness in certain areas, like the area around my eyes and in the smile creases and this is my favorite way to hydrate those targeted areas. Summer Entertaining Tips

In the summer, entertaining is a great way to gather your friends and enjoy seasonal food in the comfort of your backyard. Being the perfect host takes just a few entertaining rules to keep things simple and the vibe casual. From easy, hostess-ready beauty to setting a pretty table, here are a few of my tips…what are your summer entertaining musts?

{1} Set the Stage. I like to keep a selection of colorful, printed linens handy so I can just grab whatever fits my mood. Napkins are a great way to dress up white plates with ease, and don’t worry if you don’t have large quantities of the same glassware–just mix and match!

{2} Quench Thirst. While you’re likely serving cocktails to guests as they arrive, make sure to keep everyone hydrated too. I like to add lemons, limes or cucumbers to filtered water and serve it in a glass bottle, making it easy for my guests to access and giving a refreshing hint of flavor.

{3} Dress the Part. After prep work is done, escape for a few minutes to freshen up. I like to start with sun-kissed skin, created through a few applications of the Perricone MD No Sun Tanner. With a natural-looking glow as my base, a few swipes of a favorite mascara, and some powder blush mixed with the Face Finishing Moisturizer and rubbed into the apples of my cheeks, I feel polished and ready to host in no time. {4} Serve Family Style. Leverage seasonal ingredients in creating your menu, then load up platters and bowls, letting guests help themselves (and come back for seconds). This watermelon salsa is a summer favorite, perfect on top of grilled steak.

{5} Add Ambiance. Creating a warm glow with candles is my number one entertaining trick. Keep things simple with tea lights dropped into mason jars of different sizes (whatever you have in your pantry will do). Set them on the table or around your patio ahead of time, then light the candles as the sun goes down.

Eating for Beauty: Greek Yogurt & Spinach Dip

This quick and easy recipe is adapted from the Persian dish Borani Esfanaaj. It’s made entirely from ingredients found in the Perricone anti-inflammatory kitchen, so each ingredient has a beauty benefit:

  • Garlic: high sulfur content in garlic helps to firm the skin and make hair more lustrous.
  • Chives/Scallions: the high levels of flavanoids, calcium, vitamin C, B6, germanium, potassium, and magnesium make this an ideal food for fighting dry skin.
  • Dill: helps to for maintain healthy mucus membranes and skin.
  • Spinach: zinc content helps to keep skin clear of breakouts.
  • Lemon juice: clarifying and acts as a diuretic.
  • Greek Yogurt: excellent source of probiotics and protein. Dr. Perricone recommends selecting a low-fat version for enhanced calcium absorption.
  • Feta: a high protein, lower calorie cheese, excellent source of calcium for bone health.
  • Walnuts: rich in Omega-3’s for glossy hair and supple skin, studies have also shown that walnuts increase endothelial blood flow, thereby improving and preventing the look of broken capillaries.

Ingredients:

  • 2 large cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped chives or scallions
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh dill
  • 16 oz package of fresh spinach leaves (if using frozen, defrost and drain excess water)
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • 8 ounces plain Greek yogurt (non-fat or low-fat)
  • a handful of crumbled feta cheese (optional)
  • a handful of crumbled walnuts for the top
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
1. Steam your spinach and cook it with the ½ minced garlic clove in a little olive oil until fragrant. Set aside and drain water.

2. When the spinach has cooled, add the remaining raw garlic and the rest of the ingredients. Mix thoroughly with the yogurt.

3. Serve in a flat dish appropriate for dipping. Sprinkle with walnut pieces.

4. Optional- add salt and pepper to taste, and drizzle with a little olive oil just before serving.

Serve with crudités, flax-seed bread, or as the filling for stuffed chicken breasts.
