White or Red?


Red wine contains anti-aging flavanols that protect the body in various ways against certain cancers, heart disease and can even exert a positive effect on cholesterol and blood pressure. So it’s no surprise that Dr. Perricone recommends a daily glass of heart-healthy red wine (with a protein-rich meal).

Unfortunately, white wine, which is most often paired with turkey and poultry, does not have the same antioxidant value. And if you’re serving turkey, what’s a health conscious hostess to do?

Dr. Perricone recommends Chateauneuf-du-Pape, a “beautiful wine made in the southern Rhone region of France.” Its a robust wine that complements the classic autumn and winter fare. It makes a wonderful, full-bodied accompaniment to a traditional (anti-inflammatory) Thanksgiving dinner.
