Dr.Perricone is answering your submitted questions on Facebook today (tune in to the Perricone MD Facebook Page for more questions and answers). Here’s one of the many questions he’s answering today:
Tina asks: “Why is Coconut Oil so good for you and how does it help burn fat?”
Dr. Perricone answers: Coconut oil is made up of medium-chain fatty acids (MCFA’s) which are a great aid in losing weight, lowering cholesterol, and reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. MCFA’s will give you immediate energy and increased thermogenesis (fat burning) which also helps circulation. MCFA’s do not require the liver and gallbladder to digest and emulsify them. If your digestion is compromised or you have had your gallbladder removed, coconut oil is the only oil you should use as it is very easily digested. Coconut oil is also helpful for those with underactive thyroids.
How do you incorporate coconut oil into your diet?
How do feel about face filler
As a general rule, Dr. Perricone doesn’t endorse fillers or botox. He believes the best way to appear youthful is to follow an anti inflammatory diet, ingest healthy supplements and apply targeted cosmeceuticals to maintain the health of your skin and total body.
Do you cook w/ it the same as olive oil? Or do you just add a tps or so to different things?
Hi Suzanne. Please use as you would olive oil.
I eat a tsp or so daily and use it as a hair treatment almost daily and as a body moisturizer. It is all around the best!
eczema
treatable with any perricone products?
Following the anti inflammatory diet can be a tremendous help in treating eczema from the inside out. Many sensitive clients also report success with Cold Plasma. We are also launching a hypoallergenic line in the fall which will be designed for those extremely sensitive with dry skin.
I add coconut oil to my smoothies. On the rare occasion when I need to pan fry something, I use coconut oil as well.
How is the taste??thx
I find it very mild and light with a hint of sweetness.
Is it safe for children to eat foods cooked with it
Yes, Monik! Enjoy!
I am 64 years old and suffer with roseaca, which i keep in check with diet. I am having a particularly bad attack at the moment, I use nutrive cleanser face firming and face finishing, what else will help me?

I have been following Dr. Perricones Antiinflammatory Diet and am feeling better. I have given up coffee for greentea but I read recently that greentea contains flouride which is bad for a person with hypothyroidism like myself. Any suggestions?
Its best to check with your physician, Joanne regarding the Flouride in the green tea. For those who struggle with thyroid issues, ingesting extra virgin, raw coconut oil can be beneficial.
are the skin care products paraben free/
