Skin cancer is a serious concern when it comes to getting too much sun exposure, but that’s not the only negative of catching too many rays. UV radiation from sun tanning (either in the sun or with tanning beds) can cause the following:
- Loss of skin elasticity
- Thinner, more translucent-looking skin
- Wrinkles
- Dry, rough, leathery skin
- Broken capillaries on the face
- Freckles
- Liver spots on the face, back of hands, arms, chest and upper back
- Spots or blemishes on the lower legs and arms
What steps do you take to protect yourself from the sun?

I use tanning beds and love it. I’m not ready to give it up yet even though I know it’s unhealthy. Any tips?
