Fitness Fridays: Stay Fit With a Hectic Schedule

by

Dr. Perricone’s fitness guru, Wini Linguvic, is a yoga and fitness expert here to help all the Summer Slim Down participants take their training to the next level. She’ll be answering your fitness questions on Fitness Fridays throughout the month of June.

Question:

Hi Wini, I have no time to exercise! Is there something I can do to unwind in the middle of the day or wake up my body in the morning without too much planning?

Wini replies:

Consider either the laced hands forward bend to unwind or a timed core workout for a quick dose of exercise:

Laced Hands Forward Bend:

In the middle of a busy day, take a minute to complete the laced hands forward bend. Laced you hands behind your back, soften your knees, and go into an easy forward bend. Focus on releasing the shoulders as you press your feet firmly into the floor.

Timed Core Workout

Set a timer for 1- minute intervals. Choose 2 exercises from your regular core strengthening routine. Do as many repetitions in good form in one minute for each exercise, resting as needed. Repeat for 3 to 8 minutes. Some good exercises to try in this format are:

  • Pelvic Tilts
  • Alternate Arm and Legs
  • Circle Crunches
  • Hip Lifts
  • Side Planks

What is your favorite core exercise to do when short on time?
