As we’ve said before, stress plays a role in shortening life span. The good news is that certain nutrients, such as omega-3 essential fatty acids, can help counteract this effect. I have long championed the benefits of wild salmon and other cold-water fish for a variety of reasons, including their ability to keep skin supple, youthful, and radiant; increase brain power and cardiovascular health; protect joints; and improve and stabilize mood, to name just a few benefits. I believe there is a solid link between diet and disease, including some forms of cancer. I also believe – and science bears this out – that stress is one of the single greatest precipitators of accelerated aging.
If we are to be Forever Young, we need to find successful strategies to conquer stress, both physical and mental. A loving, non-judgemental companion animal is a great antidote to stress, as are forms of exercise such as yoga, spending time out in nature, or simply making the time to restore yourself.
How do you keep your stress levels down?

I do hot yoga at least 3 times a week. I drink plenty of water while there. I always wash any makeup off before going to yoga. But since there is so much humidity and heat that dehydrates the skin, I thought putting on a moisturizer would be like giving my face a mini facial and hydrate it at the same time. Then a yoga instructor told me that just washing my face would be enough, but I really don’t think so. I’m 47, and my skin is hormonally aging and showing signs of sagging after I get out of yoga. I’m totally worn out and so is my skin! What are the right precautionary measures for skincare while doing hot yoga?
Hi Cynthia. Ensure that your skin is thoroughly cleansed and put an antioxidant rich treatment on it just prior to class. If you are prone to dehydration, we suggest Cold Plasma. The results should be stunning!
