The Importance of Co Q10

by

Coenzyme Q10, also known as ubiquinone, is an important anti-aging nutrient that can be used to protect the mitochondria.  Co Q10 is found within the mitochondrial electron transport chain and assists in passing the electrons through the chain for the production of ATP, the energy storage and transfer molecule that is essential to life.  Co Q10 is also a powerful antioxidant, used both topically and orally to prevent the clinical and physiological changes seen with aging and aging skin.  It has been found effective in reducing the incidence of fine lines and wrinkles in the skin when used topically in products like High Potency Eye Lift, or when taken orally through supplements or diet.  Foods rich in Co Q10 include fish, (particularly sardines, salmon, tuna), olive oil, walnuts and avocados.

What are your favorite sources of Co Q10?

  1. Hi! The ONLY source that I even KNEW about, until tonight, is the Capsule. I take up to 4, co- Q 10′s, 150 mg. ea., per 24 hrs.
I have Systemic Lupus, Scleroderma (Internal AND External- how LUCKY, eh?), R.A., Fibromyalgia, and now, of course, (thanks, Steroids!!) severe Osteoporosis. I have had to take some AWFUL Meds./ Chemo., etc…, and now, at the age of 51- I am SERIOUSLY beginning to see my age. No one ELSE admits to it, anyway… :)
While my Pain Mngmnt. Dr. reccommended this supplement, he never really SAID how much to use- OR that it can be applied TOPICALLY!! I am assuming that I can just poke a small hole in one, and dot around (and ON) the lines…? I did this w/ Vit. E caps, when first diagnosed w/ Scleroderma, and I believe that it DID help.
Thanks so much for the AWESOME looking Recipes, and the Generous OFFER on the products!!! If I had ANY money, I would JUMP at the chance!!! :)
    With GREAT admiration,

  2. I take Coq10 everyday. I am also beginning to eat more salmon and buying EVOO. Something that I wasn’t doing much of before, but since learning more about supplements and health, it’s an essential.

  3. Andrew Lessman at HSN had stressed the importance of Co Q 10. He said if you only take one supplement than let that be Co Q 10.

    • Hi Reanen. Tuna is a convenient option- although you need to be conscious of mercury levels. Other great canned options include Wild Alaskan Salmon, sardines and mackerel.
