Which types of fish are best?
- Go for the fattier types of fish. These contain the highest levels of these life preserving omega-3 fatty acids such as salmon, herring, anchovies and sardines.
- As a general rule, salt water fish contain more omega-3 fatty acids than freshwater fish. If you are selecting fresh water fish, go for trout which can have relatively high levels.
- Look for fish that contain the lowest levels of mercury such flounder, perch, pollock, salmon, anchovies, haddock, herring and mackerel.
