This pose is part of a general overall strengthening sequence from Forever Young designed to increase overall strength and flexibility.

Extended Side Angle Pose

  1. Stand in Mountain Pose.
  2. Position your feet about 4 feet apart.
  3. Turn your left foot and leg out 90 degrees and your right foot in slightly.
  4. Align your left heel with the arch of your right foot.
  5. Anchor your right heel down and draw your right inner thigh in toward your pelvis.
  6. Bend your left leg until it is parallel to the floor with your knee in line with the ankle.
  7. Firm your shoulder blades and extend your torso to the left, reaching your left fingertips to the outside of your left foot and extending your right arm over your ear.
