Forever Young: Holiday Smart Starters

Even though the temptations of Thanksgiving have passed, there are still tempting holiday cocktail parties and dinners to navigate for the next month.  While fried appetizers and rich, creamy dips are tempting, there are plenty of delicious anti-inflammatory starters usually available on most holiday spreads that are loaded with antioxidants to help you stay healthy and beautiful well into the new year.  To keep your eating on track when the appetizers are passed around, be sure to start with a handful of almonds or other healthy protein, and stick to these starters:

  • Mushrooms
  • Anchovies
  • Hummus
  • Shrimp
  • Lobster
  • Chicken lamb, or beef satay
  • Crudites (raw vegetables)
  • Mussels
  • Oysters
  • Feta
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Olives
  • Nuts (almonds, chestnuts, walnuts and pistachios)
  • Artichokes
  • Sardines
