Forever Young: Side Plank Pose

by

After a long weekend of eating, it’s good to get back on track with your exercise and eating routines.  One good way to do this is to work on strengthening your body through yoga.   This side plank pose is part of a Core Strength Sequence from Forever Young, which helps improve posture and strengthen the lower back and abdominals.

Side Plank Pose

  1. Start in downward facing dog.
  2. Shift onto the outside edge of your right foot, and stack your left foot on top of the right.
  3. Place your left hand onto your left hip as you turn your torso to the left.
  4. Make sure your supporting arm is slightly in front of your shoulder.
  5. Drawing your abdominals in, create a diagonal line from the top of your head through your heels.
  6. Remain in the pose for five breaths.
  7. Switch sides.
