Beach Bum

Squats are a great way to get your rear in gear for the summer.  Dr. Perricone’s fitness guru, Wini, makes squats easy with her step-by-step approach.

Step 1: Place your feet slightly wider then hip-width apart with your toes slightly turned out.

Step 2: Place your hands on waist.

Step 3: Bend your knees until your thighs are parallel to the floor, making sure your knees track in line with your toes.

Step 4: Pause at the bottom and draw your hips and glutes together as you come up.

Step 5: Complete 15 reps for 3 rounds with 15 seconds rest in between sets.

A word from Wini: Press into your heels as you come up. See how few you can do before you fatigue, not how many. In other words, keep the body super awake the whole time: draw the abdominals up and in, keep your spine long and pause for a breath at the bottom of the squat.
