Don’t Forget the Flavonoids

Flavonoids are an important part of any healthy diet.  They have many healthful properties, most of which stem from their antioxidant properties as powerful scavengers of free radicals.

Flavonoids:
•    Fight free radicals, inflammation, and inflammatory conditions such as allergies.
•    Help neutralize bacteria and viruses.
•    Help protect against high blood pressure.
•    Inhibit the growth of cancerous tumors.
•    Help prevent cataracts.
•    Raise the levels of glutathione, a primary antioxidant defense and an effective suppressor of chronic inflammation.

Some foods rich in flavonoids include apples, bee pollen, broccoli, cabbage, capers, chili peppers, chives, cranberries, dill, elderberries, fennel, garlic, kale, parsley, peppermint, tarragon and thyme.

What are your favorite flavonoid-rich foods?

  4. I have studied your theory on flavonoids and inflammation , testing on myself, since I have endometriosis. I HAVE noticed a difference in my swelling when I eat more reds and blues.

Thank you for all your inflammation studies. I refer to them often for myself and my clients. It is all good , sound advice that is so easy to integrate into a daily routine.
