Give Yourself a Hand

istock_hands

Your hands speak volumes about you and your lifestyle. They probably suffer more abuse than any part of your body in terms of exposure to the sun, chemicals from cleaning products, and all sorts of bacteria. A good hand cream rich in emollients is essential to prevent the years from showing in your hands.

  1. I have heard that if you use lighter shades of nail color on your nails it will help your hands look younger than wearing darker shades.

  2. For my skin coloring, Northern European and Mediterranean ancestors, lighter nail colors named “Nude” or “Honey” give my hands a soft look (younger), and go with red, purple, or orange-ish attire equally as well. Having long nail beds is a plus, so you don’t actually have to have long nails for that long-nail look. I’m a very active gardener and homemaker, and have to use cotton gloves under nitrile waterproof gloves to have any nails and soft hand skin. For me, a hand cream with either an alpha hydroxy or a lipid component is essential care under those cotton goves.
