Of course, we know there are more than just 10 “super foods.” In fact, just about every brightly colored fruit and vegetable fits the category of a super food, as does cold water fish, nuts, beans and seeds and aromatic and brightly colored herbs and spices. The ten categories listed here are a great place to start!
- Wild Salmon
- Allium family of vegetables; onions, garlic, chives, leeks, shallots, scallions
- Old fashioned oatmeal
- Blueberries
- Ginger Root and Turmeric
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Nuts and Seeds
- Rainbow Foods (brightly colored fruits and vegetables)
- Sprouts
- Yogurt and Kefir
Very much, very healthy article. Thanks dear dr. Perricone!
One of my favorite fruits is pineapple. Would it be considered one of the brightly colored fruits?
Thanks!
Thanks for the list! I already have a lot of these in my daily diet.
Once you start eating Alaskan salmon…it’s ADDICTIVE and delicious!
Dear Debz,
Pineapple is okay on the diet but it is higher in sugar than the other fruits that Dr. Perricone recommends.
I hope this helps.
