Ethnicity and Skin – Black and Brown Skin Tones

by

If you have a black or brown skin tone, here are your primary risks and rewards:

Rewards
Increased melanin protects against photo aging
Skin is resistant to wrinkling and fine lines especially in the eye area
Can maintain a youthful wrinkle-free and toned appearance into old age (No need for a wrinkle cure!

Risks
Skin is very sensitive and subject to uneven pigmentation if treated with harsh, abrasive treatments
Subject to scarring due to exaggerated inflammatory response from injuries
Although rich in sebaceous oils, can still be susceptible to an ashy dryness from strong soaps or cleansers

  2. Dear Monica,

To address uneven skin tone/pigmentation, I would recommend using the Pigment Corrective System which combines the power of the Pigment Corrective Dietary Supplements along with the Pigment Corrective topical cream to help diminish the appearance of hyper-pigmentation and brown spots, while lightening and brightening skin’s appearance from the inside out and the outside in.

Additionally to help with uneven skin tone, you can also use the Advanced Face Firming Activator (AM) and the Concentrated Restorative Cream (PM).

To address acne blemishes, Dr. Perricone offers a line of Acne Care products that you can use including a cleanser, toner, acne treatment (containing benzoyl peroxide) and moisturizer. You can find these products on our website under the SPECIFIC CONCERN > Acne/Breakouts category.

    I hope this helps!

  3. Dear Alexis,

Thank you! I have been looking for answers for both, pigmentation and acne, with two different reasons and for different people.
Alexis, I appreciate you give answers of our questions. Are you the one who got my call on my first order of Super berry with Acai ? At that time, I said I wrote something on the blog and I asked whether others would see my email address or not when I write on the blog? I think it was you. Anyways, thank you for looking up the questions on the blog that I had before after the call. I didn’t see your post, the answer of my question about acne until later after I posted another related question to Dr. Perricone. Sorry. I wanted to thank you then but your post was gone when I tried to look at the info. again and was going to comment to thank you.

Can you tell me what products would be good for Asian skins, as well? Please look at my question under Dr.Perricone’s post about Asian skin. I guess no one saw my question.
Also, I am still not sure what I should get for my daughter. I bought Citrus Facial Wash for her to test after reading Dr. Perricone’s post about complex skin. I think she has normal skin but just a little oily on her nose. I don’t really know much about skin. I haven’t been really paid much attention until recently. ( I guess I probably should say I really didn’t need to until recently.) So I have been a little confused with many different topical products in your web site. I really would like to find suitable line for me and for my daughter. If you recommend me right one, I would like to get whole related products in that line, like, facial wash, skin toner, moisturizers and so on. ( I recently have bought whole set of products from other brand but I really would like to try to use your products.) We, both I and my daughter feel our face gets a little dry after using the citrus facial wash I bought last week. Should my daughter use that only for her nose area and use something else for other parts of face? I didn’t know how to communicate with you guys besides putting post. I am glad I found this, at least. You may contact me directly. Putting post, back and forth is a little confusing sometimes for some specific answers.

    Thanks. ^_^
