Control Blood Sugar, Control Your Weight

Doctor Perricone recommends, to maintain an ideal weight and/or to lose excess weight, all we have to do is learn how to control our blood sugar through an anti-inflammatory diet rich in antioxidants. We don’t need to fanatically count grams of fat, carbs or calories or follow low fat diets.

With that being said, don’t forget to take your body supplements, which help promote an active body and mind.

  1. My mother has diabeties and has for about 20 years. She is recovering from surgery. They replaced a vein in her leg due to clogged veins. She is now on a special diet for her kidney and diabeties. What supplements do you recommend her take to get her strenghth and energy back.

  2. Maybe you had a little misunderstanding about my earlier post containing my suggestion about “readers doing a diet with ‘you” through your daily blog.”
    I didn’t mean a coach fanatically counting grams of fat, carbs or calories. I meant doing your “Anti-inflammatory diet” as it seems so great and I am a firm believer in your research and recommendations. I just meant why don’t we give an actual life on your wonderful 28-day program or 14 day weight-loss diet on your books through your blog with actual interactions and with considering actual situations or conditions of our current environment and timing. For example, right now is winter, some food are easily available and some don’t. And some exercise we can and some we can’t or we don’t want to. Or we have a tendency towards certain food these days—-like craving for carb or warm, or comfort foods as it is cold and facing recession. ^^ Even a menu that we think for the day for dinner might be simple, usual and boring but you and your team’s creativeness and resourcefulness can give more fun to our table, far better than our own. You know what I am saying? As we get into your blog daily to see your valuable comments, knowledge and opinion, I thought it might be nice if you could add tips of your 3-tiered philosophy in our actual daily life as well, like “doing diet with YOU”. It would be like having the best life coach. And our knowledge we learn from you can get into as an action. Like we set a certain time line and goal and do together. Like we start every first week of the month and ends a cycle in three weeks or something like that. the idea can be extended in many different ways. I just can’t say everything on the post and what I was giving on my previous post was just a short tip or a hint of an idea. I hope you didn’t mind that I suggested something like this.

  4. Hi, MeMe! As no one is responding to your question from the web site, let me share my thought with you as a fellow participant to this blog. I know what it is like when no one is responding.^_^

    “Does Super Berry with Acai Dietary Supplement promote weight loss?”

    Hmmm……well, First, I would like to recommend you to look up Dr.Perricone’s book, ” The Perricone weight-loss diet”. Reading just only the first three chapters,which are very short, easy to read, very clearly written and fascinating, will be a big help. Once you pass those three chapters, the rest of the book is just a joyous journey. If you don’t want to do that, check only page 58 and 59. I, personally, would be happy to tell you my own understanding of his wisdom, however, learning from Dr.Perricone directly through his own writing is much clearer and better!

    Dr.Perricone said that the key thing for diet is controlling your blood sugar level, right? I think having anti-inflammatory foods that Dr. Perricone recommends, especially something like Acai and omega-3-essential fatty acids is just like calming down a crying and agitated baby with a negative cycle and give a chance to be able to relax and to grow or recover with his or her own living life force. Would you give candy to a crying baby? No, right?

    My own personal experience with “Super Berry with Acai ” in particular is very limited- I only tried one box. I know my mom and my mom’s friends had very good results with Acai juice. I feel good every time after I took it. It’s similar feeling after I took omega-3-essential fatty acids. I ordered my first box about two weeks ago and I have just ordered a new box with other stuff, like Glutamine, Maitake and Vitamin C Easter facial wash (for my daughter).( I wanted to get more topical products as well for me and for my daughter but still I am a little confused what would be suitable for each of us.) Even if my direct experience with this particular product is limited but with recommendations of Dr. Perricone in his “The Perricone weight-loss diet”, I would definitely recommend you to try it and I would say it would help to promote weight loss, if not directly, at least indirectly. One thing I am pretty sure is that it would help people who are doing weight loss diet, whatever it may be, to continue his or her diet healthy. Plus, this box is not only Acai but it has several different kinds of berries extracts! If you are going to get it for weight loss purpose, I would buy omega 3 and glutamine as well. I got big discount for my stuff! (Thank you, Dr.Perricone!) If I were you, I would carry this little “Super Berry with Acai” mix packet, instead of waiting on the long line at Starbucks in the middle of the day !!!

    If by smoothie you mean the Super Berry Powder, this will not interfere with weight loss but would actually be a nice complement to your weight loss regimen, which can consist of the Weight Management Supplements, Omega 3 and L-Glutamine powder, for example, combined with Dr. Perricone’s weight loss diet.

  7. diabetic’s have a hard time with juices, even unsweeten to keep sugar level in control. Does the protien powder that is suggested balance this problem out.
    Like I can eat a banana with peanut butter and have not increase in sugar level. Surprised my doctors too.

    I wasn’t 100% clear on your question exactly, but let me try and answer it for you. If you are diabetic, and would like to have a protein shake, you can try the following recipe:

    1 cup water
    1 large scoop whey protein powder
    2 tbsp ground flaxseeds
    1 tbsp natural peanut butter
    1/2 cup berries or 1/2 banana
    1 tsp cinnamon

    Combine ingredients with ice in a blender; pulse until mixed well.

    If you combine the fruit with a protein, healthy fats, and fiber, you can greatly lower it’s glycemic impact on your body. Keeping the portion size of fruit small is also instrumental.

    As for eating a banana with peanut butter, you should only have 1/2 a banana and 1 tbsp peanut butter. Take your blood sugar levels 1, 2, and 3 hours after eating this and see how it affects you. A better snack option would be turkey and avocado, boiled eggs, full-fat plain yogurt with nuts, or just a handful of raw almonds with coconut flakes. Eating less carbs with more protein and fat will do a far better job and keeping your blood sugar in check.

  10. I have just begun the 28 day diet and sill confused on the morning supplememts.
    I have purchashed the box for the 30 day Health and weight management and the peptide blend.My question at this time is should I have purchashed the Maitake Fraction D also? Im also confused on the cream for the face.It says apply neuropeptide cream.What kind? Its a little confusing to me.
    I have a auto immune problem. Please advise.

    i’ve started the perricone weight loss diet and i think it’s really fantastic!!! however,i would be really happy if anyone can explain to me why, as much as i can see and feel myself slimming down, my weight and my body mass are increasing? i was 11st3lb with a body fat 38.4% and a body fat mass of 27.4kg, 3 weeks ago . now i’m 11st6lb with body fat 42.6% and a body fat mass 31kg? am i becoming heavier when i’m supposed to become lighter with the fat i’m burning? may b i’ve missed something somewhere and would be really glad to have some explanations,please. i’m taking omega 3 fish oil+ chromium + glutamine + eating salmon and most of the anti inflammatories food stated in the perricone weight loss diet book.

  13. I would just like to present a quote from the American Academy of Anti-ageing regarding sugar intake at a genetic level and how it effects ageing:

    This quote is taken directly from an article titled “The immortal question.” It is a great example of how sensible Dr. Perricone’s research and suggestions are for healthy living. Even if you do not use his face products, you can still benefit from the diet.

    Have you taken measurements (arms, hips, thighs, waist), and do your clothes fit differently? I am a bit unclear as to whether or not you are genuinely losing inches despite an increase in your weight.

    Based on your current weight, the portions should be appropriate for you. If, however, since you’re on the diet and seem to be gaining weight, then you will need to reduce the portion sizes. In addition, you may find that as you lose weight you will need fewer calories to maintain your weight. It will really depend on how your body is metabolizing your food.
