The Acne Prescription

by

Since the initial publication of my book, The Acne Prescription in Fall 2003, I have received a steady stream of letters and e-mails about this systemic, inflammatory disease. (And, make no mistake, acne is a disease that affects young and old, males and females.)

Clogged pores, whiteheads, and blackheads, along with full-blown acne lesions can be successfully treated. The best news is that they can even be prevented from forming in the first place. Most people believe that acne is a scourge of the young, yet in reality, a large number of adults battle acne, too. And, if you are an adult suffering from acne you are particularly vulnerable to scarring – all the more reason to prevent an acne lesion from forming to begin with.

It all begins with the very foods that you eat and nutritional supplements. It really is that simple.
If you are serious about eliminating acne once and for all, follow the anti-inflammatory diet; take body supplements, particularly the pycnogenol and Omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids; and start a healthful, stress-reducing exercise regimen. All of these tips follow the Perricone Prescription Diet.

This three-tiered program is the best treatment for adult acne. Following it will get rid of your acne, and you will receive the added benefit of preventing many of the signs of aging. You will discover that not only is there a “facelift in your fridge,” but skin clear, beautiful, acne-free skin as well!

  1. First, after reading your skin drinks and super powder on 19th post I actually ordered your Super Powder which contains acai and other berries yesterday. I had just received an email that says it’s on the way already! I am looking forward to trying! It sounds like as pure as like those Alaskan salmons I have been ordering since reading the wrinkle cure as part of the first 250$ packet from PBS. However, I am still very intrigued by the fermented one , which I mentioned before, as well. I will appreciate if you can look into it one day and hope to have some information about it. All I know is that it is not like wine or Bogbunja which is a Korean drinks made with blackberry which is getting very popular within women like sake for men. What I mean it is not like alcohol.

Second, regarding acne, I have a daughter who had just turned 12 years old, youngest in her class. Most of her classmates are 13 years old. My daughter doesn’t have acne but some of them do have acne. I know acne is a big coming concerns to these lovely girls. I know some of her friends are taking even anti biotics!!! I do believe your anti-inflammatory diet will treat and prevent underlying problems for acne and those other skin problems involved with the unbalanced immune system. However I wonder whether you have any moisturizers or lotions or something topical things for these girls, pre-teen and teen, to use daily like every morning after washing face or shower. I always wondered what to have my daughter to use, thinking whether she should not use things for adults. Most of the time, she doesn’t use anything.

After reading the wrinkle cure and the Perricone Prescription, I tried almost all of your products and nutritional supplements that I need for a while which were great but then, my life got busy with other things and had been out of in touch with your stuff for the past many years ( which I really regret-I wouldn’t look so old like now if I stayed with your products and the anti-inflammatory diet). I guess you might have special line for these young ladies by now but I need to re-educate myself with your products and your research. So if you can kindly recommend what kind of products you have can be used for these young girls, I would appreciate it and for sure will recommend to a lot of these girls and boys and their parents!

Oh, also, I wanted to order kefir when I ordered super powder, but learned you don’t carry it . Where can we get them?

    Thank you! ^ ^

  2. Hi Minkyong,

Dr. Perricone has several topical products available that your daughter can use to keep her skin clear and under control. You can find them on our website under the SPECIFIC CONCERN > Acne/Breakouts category: Pore Refining Cleanser, Pore Refining Toner, Pore Refining Treatment Gel Cream, and Skin Clear Hydrator.
In addition to using the topical products, I would also recommend that your daughter try following Dr. Perricone’s anti-inflammatory diet, as outlined in his book The Acne Prescription. The diet can help improve the skin’s health from the inside out by providing it with the necessary nutrients to keep it clear and glowing.

    I hope this helps you.
