Dr. Perricone Q&A – Acne #2 – Reducing Acne From Headwear

by

Q: I love to mountain bike but it seems that the chafing of my helmet causes my skin to break out. What can I do about this?

A: Acne may be irritated or worsened by hats, helmets, headbands, or other articles of clothing that press tightly or rub against the skin. To combat this reaction, take a clean piece of soft cotton (part of an old T-shirt for example) and make a headband to act as a buffer against the pressure of the helmet. Plus, headbands make awesome fashion statements.

In combination to the helpful headband tip, don’t forget to try some of our special skin care products, including a gentle cleanser.

  1. After reading your acne posts, one day I went to other blogs about acne. (This blog wasn’t an English one —–Thanks to the other languages I know besides English.) There were endless comments about acne, mostly their worries and frustrations. One person wrote that he had acne when he was in middle school. He still has scars on his face from acne. It always bothered him even as an adult. He had come from a visit to the doctor, hoping that something could be done, but the news that he got wasn’t good. He mentioned in his blog how he was writing with deep frustration and was eager to have some guidance to his problem. I felt sorry for him. I guess his case is extreme. However, I wonder what kind of steps or treatments are available or recommendable for these people who once had acne that left scars behind from any time period? They were eager for information on how to improve their situation. If you advise anything, I will translate it and pass over your wisdom to these people including your other two posts about acne recently, even though I have never put posts on any blogs before besides this blog.
Happy New Year! I wish you all the best in the next year. May it be fulfilling!^^
